Specifically, Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx) focuses on the foundation and exterior backup wall construction, waterproofing systems, air/moisture barrier systems, through wall flashings, masonry cavity wall systems, cladding systems, exterior doors, window/curtain wall systems, joint sealants, sheet metal fabrications and roofing/roofing accessory systems.
More generally, and as defined by the National Institute of Sciences, “BECx is the process by which the design and constructed performance of building enclosure materials, components, assemblies and systems are validated to meet defined objectives and requirements of the project, as established by the owner.”
